Skin Testing

Skin tests can identify or confirm the cause of allergy symptoms. Allergies to pets, dust mites, pollen and grasses and some foods can be identified. Skin tests are done by pricking the outer skin with a small amount of allergen and then checking for reactions that indicate allergic immune response.

Results are available within 20 minutes, so you can discuss the results with a doctor at the time of testing.

If you have a positive skin test, our experts will talk through the treatment options, including the option of allergy desensitization.

Skin prick testing is not useful for all types of allergy. Our experts will advise you if you need another form of testing, such as blood tests, based on your symptoms.
